In 2009, Professor Pam Grossman founded The Center to Support Excellence in Teaching at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. With a team of staff and graduate students, she sought to improve the quality of K–12 teaching by helping Stanford faculty collaborate on instructional research and design, and then helping teachers understand and leverage that research in their classrooms. In 2014, Dr. Janet Carlson became the CSET director. With a growing CSET team, she continued the work of the center by bridging educational research and practice and developing CSET’s focus on equity, high quality professional learning, and educational leadership.

Today, CSET continues to expand upon the vision by implementing research-based professional learning programs in the U.S. and worldwide. We offer principled, practical solutions to systemic educational challenges while learning and growing along with our partners.
