Sofía González-Otero is an Instructional and Research Associate at CSET, where she focuses on supporting and addressing the needs and progress of multilingual students in mathematical reasoning and English language arts. Sofía’s work is geared towards educator-focused professional development of language and content. In her role, she conducts both quantitative and qualitative research and has developed analysis tools and protocols for classroom observations and student writing samples. Sofía is also a Ph.D. candidate in the field of Equity and Innovation in Education. Her doctoral thesis focuses on analyzing and assessing the linguistic variation of reading comprehension in English language learners (ELLs), addressing fairness in assessments across diverse populations. Sofía holds a master’s degree in Curriculum Innovation, Orientation, and Educational Evaluation, and a master's degree in Educational Psychology, both from the University of A Coruña, Spain. Sofía grew up in a bilingual context, and she is a native speaker of both Spanish and Galician languages.
