Practical measures are brief surveys administered to students at the end of a math lesson. Data from these surveys provide teachers with instantaneous feedback on some aspect of their instructional practice. These data can now be displayed for teachers using digital pie and bar charts. In this research study, we presented several such pie and bar charts to middle-school math teachers and instructional coaches. The purpose of sharing these data displays was to gauge the reactions of math teachers and coaches to the displays, as well as to get a better sense of how data from practical measures surveys should best be displayed for teachers. We are presently modifying the practical measures data-displays based on the feedback we received from teachers and coaches. We are also working with our partner district in disaggregating and displaying practical measures data such that issues related to student equity are highlighted in the data.
